Why metal is better than plastic for a pen

Most pens are made of plastic. That is cheap and light. But plastic scratches, bends slightly and has a different balance than metal. When you want to write precisely, you want a pen that sits stable in your hand.

The Rotring 600 is made entirely of brushed brass, finished with a matte black coating. The weight is slightly more than a normal pen, distributed in a way that gives the tip more control.

The hexagonal shape

The 600 has a hexagonal cross-section. That is a functional choice: a hexagonal pen does not roll off a desk. When you work at a drawing table and put the pen down, it stays where you put it.

Refillable and repairable

The Rotring 600 is refillable with standard fountain pen cartridges. The nib is replaceable. If the pen falls and the nib is damaged, you replace only the nib, not the whole pen.
