The problem with ordinary tape measures

A standard tape measure has a narrow, thin blade that sags quickly when extended. That makes solo measuring difficult. At home, when you want to hang a cabinet on your own, it is frustrating.

The FatMax has a wider and thicker blade. The Blade Armor coating, an extra layer of polyester on the steel, makes the blade stiffer. You can extend the blade more than three metres without it sagging.

What else is different

The hook at the end is magnetic. You can hang it on a steel edge and measure with one hand. On a metal frame or steel pipe profile it sticks without you holding it.

The housing is rubber coated at the points that get dropped most. Tape measures get dropped. Always. The coating means a drop of a metre or two causes no permanent damage.
